It does get the work done very well, because it is Apple, but Napevillians are down to earth. It is more of a place where people can hang out and catch up on the latest rumors of Apple products as well as waste time in just viewing out the area. I was glad that it became to be a simple store, albeit still amazed that an Apple store was created here in the first place. It would be like a diamond in a pile of shiny granite. All that plexiglass and underground, that would be to much. When first hearing about this store being created, I immediately imagined the works of the big cities designs and just wondered about how it would look like when finished. If the building was anywhere near as extravagant as the big city stores, it would just look out of place. The building matches well with the brick surroundings of old and new Naperville. It is an affluent suburb of Chicago that can maintain an Apple store. The simple design fits well with the history of quaint Naperville. It does the job of selling apple products. It’s the suburb of Naperville, Apple store. Nor the space-age magnificent Apple store of Shanghai. Or, the architectural underground marvel that is the Fifth Avenue Apple store in New York, It is not a cathedral like the North Michigan Ave. This apple store is a long way from what the media is used to. It was interesting to see this kind of design and to see this Apple store trying to stay creative in that way. Underneath the table is actually a locked drawer that the staff uses whenever a customer wants to buy something. What they do here is design each table into a cash register. Another thing one may notice is that there is no cashier or cash register in sight. The walls are colored with Apple’s signature neutral looks of gray, silver, and white. There are tables that display each product of Apple within their respected purposes (iPad, iPod, iPhone, Macs, Macbooks, accessories, it’s all there). As you enter, it looks like classroom without chairs. The large “Macintosh” logo on top of the building is just a not-so-subtle reminder that this not Microsoft. The customer is not going to forget that this is an Apple store. The simplicity of the structure of the building does its job as a retail store. The Apple store in Naperville, Il works on this suburb because it is filled with hungry people for the latest things in the world of technology. It is a small, one-story building which serves the purpose of filling every suburban resident, young and old with a grin. Much smaller than one would expect of the mega-empire Apple.
